LIM DONG-WOOK, Founder & Creative Director of MIK, was inspired by the no-tie trend in 2006 to introduce buttoncover jewelry, a new way to adorn the front of shirts with elegance and individuality. His innovative design earned a Special Selection at the Korea Design Exhibition that same year.

In 2007, he presented a master’s thesis on its design and structure, establishing the academic foundation behind the innovation. Building on this foundation, he officially launched MIK and established the business in 2008, solidifying button covers as a refined category in jewelry.

Today, he continues his research and practice in pursuit of jewelry that embodies better value through a balance of function and beauty.
