LIM DONG-WOOK, Founder & Creative Director of MIK, was inspired by the no-tie trend in 2006 to introduce buttoncover jewelry, a new way to adorn the front of shirts with elegance and individuality.

His innovative concept quickly gained scholarly traction. He presented a master’s thesis on its design and structure in 2007, establishing the academic rigor behind the innovation. Building on this foundation, he officially launched MIK and established the business in 2008, solidifying button covers as a refined category in jewelry.

Today, he continues his research and practice in pursuit of jewelry that embodies better value through a balance of function and beauty.
